The Impact of Blogging

You know, I always blogged in New York... sometimes I lagged, but in general I tried to keep up with it. I'm sure anyone reading this, as a fellow member of blog land, has gone through a slump with no comments, where you start to think "Is anyone else even reading this?" Some of us write just to get things out, but I think a large portion feel good knowing they have an audience, regardless of the size.

So, today I was back at my beloved college, now as an adult with something to contribute. I stayed after the meeting to speak with a former education professor. At the end he said, "Oh by the way! I loved reading your blog and hearing about everything that you were experiencing while you were teaching in New York." I was aghast! I had no idea that he had ben reading my blog, and enjoying it nonetheless. He talked to me about some of the schools I had worked at and other stories.

And that is why I started this blog - to share my New York experiences with the world - teachers and students who may have no idea how different the "same" job can be. I never really thought I was though. But at least one person was reading.

I've been thinking this week about my work in New York - whether I affected students... where they are now. I will never really know. But I will always have my hopes.
